| Q. Can Tribulus be taken by women? |
(Posted: 14th Dec, 2006) |
A. (from Musashi website)
Women provide a much more complex sex hormonal picture than men with three hormones contributing to the overall makeup of the hormonal balance. Women produce oestrogens, progesterone and testosterone.
The ovaries produce the bulk of the oestrogens during the years leading up to the menopause and substantially less post-menopause.
Progesterone is produced once ovulation has taken place during the menstrual years. Progesterone ceases to be produced when ovulation stops at the menopause.
Testosterone in women is predominately produced by the ovaries. It is produced on a continual basis and levels rise slightly around the time of ovulation. With a decline in ovarian function testosterone production similarly will decline.
Tribulus works via a feedback mechanism and has a considerable effect on the serum levels of the luteinizing hormone (LH) and the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). It appears from reports that Tribulus affects all the three hormones in women. It can improve both menopausal and PMS symptoms.
Those women who were involved in a regular exercise program reported significant increases in strength, endurance, and conversion of body fat to lean muscle mass. We advise practitioner supervision if you are a female looking to use Tribulus for menstrual or menopausal reasons. |

| Q. Cab RES-V be taken by women? |
(Posted: 18th Sept, 2008) |
A. Hi, yes it can!!
Resveratrol is actually the big antioxidant that comes frmo grapeseed, adn is the reason why red wine is 'good' for you. That is actually it's main purpose - an antioxidant.
Interestingly it also is thought to act as a phytoestrogen. This simply means that it can act similarly to estrogen in the body by binding to the receptor sites that estrogen uses, but it has an 80% weaker action than the bodies endogenous estrogen.
This can be useful for women where excess estrogen is a problem.
It is also thought to have anti-aging and anti-cancer properties, adn may also help with depression, diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, inflammation, immune functioning, stamina and the list goes on!! |
