| Q. Can Tribulus be taken by women? |
(Posted: 14th Dec, 2006) |
A. (from Musashi website)
Women provide a much more complex sex hormonal picture than men with three hormones contributing to the overall makeup of the hormonal balance. Women produce oestrogens, progesterone and testosterone.
The ovaries produce the bulk of the oestrogens during the years leading up to the menopause and substantially less post-menopause.
Progesterone is produced once ovulation has taken place during the menstrual years. Progesterone ceases to be produced when ovulation stops at the menopause.
Testosterone in women is predominately produced by the ovaries. It is produced on a continual basis and levels rise slightly around the time of ovulation. With a decline in ovarian function testosterone production similarly will decline.
Tribulus works via a feedback mechanism and has a considerable effect on the serum levels of the luteinizing hormone (LH) and the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). It appears from reports that Tribulus affects all the three hormones in women. It can improve both menopausal and PMS symptoms.
Those women who were involved in a regular exercise program reported significant increases in strength, endurance, and conversion of body fat to lean muscle mass. We advise practitioner supervision if you are a female looking to use Tribulus for menstrual or menopausal reasons. |

| Q. I like to take casein protein before bed, i heard that taking protein and zma before bed deminishes zma's effects? |
(Posted: 15th Sept, 2008) |
A. Yes this is true, however it is not the protein itself that diminishes the absorption of zinc, but the calcium content of the dairy.
It is best to take zinc away from calcium as they compete with each other for absorption. You could put an hour between taking the shake and the ZMA and this should be fine! |

| Q. For how long a period can Musashi ZMA+ be used? |
(Posted: 11th May, 2009) |
| A. I would give it about 3 months and then have a month or two off. |

Q. Are there any harmful/side effects if still sticking to the recommended 3 months and then have a month or two off use, over a long period of time?
Some trainer do advice not to use this product before you are 30yrs old.is this true? why is this? |
(Posted: 4th August, 2009) |
A. ZMA is fine to take at any age above 15ish unless under practitioner care. It simply provides the mineral and vitamin cofactors for production of hormones and neuraltransmitters in the body.
Caution though with ZMA products that also contain testosterone boosting herbs. These are not recommended for under 30's as the endogenous prodution of testosterone is already at it's peak and the hormonal system still developing.
You should not take any supplement containing minerals in particular for longer than 3 months to avoid boosting levels too high and thus reaching toxicity. It is a delicate balance! |
