Q. Does L-Glutamine need to be taken with carbohydrates, or can it just be taken with water?

A. It doesn't matter so much what you take it with, as when - this applies to your if you are taking glutamine to prevent catabolism as a sports person.
Generally is is thought that the best time to take glutamine is right after your workout, so you can replenish your body stores and keep your body from becoming catabolic (breaking down muscle). Taking it right after your workout will speed up your recovery and increase protein synthesis.
It's also good to take it right before you go to bed; your body does most of its repairing as you sleep. It's sometimes recommended to take glutamine first thing in the morning too. |
